4 Dogs, many helpers

We spent a sunny Sunday, Nov. 16, 2025, heading south to Osceola, MO, to pick up four dogs who were surrendered by a breeder in Springfield, MO, for transport to safe to rescue care, foster homes and adoptions.

The first driver got the four dogs to Osceola from Springfield.

From Osceola, we took over and got the animals to the Adopt Rescue Foster group in Peculiar, MO, in Cass County, south of Kansas City.

There, they got preliminary veterinary care that included a quick physical checkup, vaccinations and other preventive medications.

This care was provided by Adopt Rescue Foster (on Facebook), a 501c3 non-profit organization that is dedicated to keeping happy, healthy pets safe and with their families. It is all foster and volunteer based with fosters all over the Kansas City metro area.

Those volunteers include the many drivers who bring the animals to the base station in Peculiar for the check-in and connections with the fosters and adopters.

On Sunday, there were a total of 11 animals — including the four dogs we transported — that were rescued from unstable or downright dangerous situations to new beginnings at rescue, foster or adoption situations.

Often the second task, after the vet check, is a quick bath or spray/toweling wipe down to remove the smells and debris of the recent kennel and road time, which can be quite evident! Take my word for that!

One of the pups in our care got to pick between a lavender- or vanilla-scented spray shampoo. He and his adopter chose vanilla — went with his fur colors!
