Trying to catch up on some of our transports after a tough few months of illness and many visits to the emergency room. Glad to have had good medical care and to have found a great primary care doctor.
Anyway!
We transported four beagles on Dec. 21, 2025, from Concordia, MO, to Kansas City, Kansas. A pretty uneventful trip, as most of our trips have been, thankfully!
Like most of our trips, these dogs needed to be removed from one location to get medical care and to be taken to new, safe homes — their forever homes. And, like the other people involved in the transport, we only did one leg of the journey.
These trips involve a string of people who commit their time and resources a part of a long trip.
But it’s the organizer or coordinator who really gets things going. That person commits to connecting the sending and receiving locations, arranging the individual segments or legs of the trips, plus the timing and the meet-up locations.
The organizers take into account the weather, the timing of the routes, even potential alternate drivers should the need arise.
And on the day or days of the transport, the organizers/coordinators are there to guide the drivers through any problems and to cheer the drivers on!
The coordinators also provide the detailed runsheet that details the info the drivers need to keep them on track for the entire transport — info on the drivers, how to contact them, vehicle descriptions, meetup locations, etc.
